Bitter Orange Spritzer

Bitter Orange Spritzer

Put fresh and uplifting in your next non alcoholic drink with bitter orange citrus fruit that mother nature provided. Bitter orange simple syrup and soda water together provide a refreshing healthy mocktail option. When I say soda water I mean club soda (water + minerals + carbon dioxide) or seltzer (water + carbon dioxide). If you use club soda it might be slightly more salty tasting while seltzer just tastes like water. To the average palate there is little perceivable difference so I am confident to say you can use them interchangeably.

There are a number of options with soda water brands. Taste them for yourself and see what you like best. For me its Schweppes does the job at a fraction of the price of other brands.

Ingredients:

  • 15 ml lime juice
  • 15 ml lemon juice
  • 30 ml bitter orange or marmalade simple syrup
  • 120 ml club soda or blood orange soda (Schweppes no sugar)
  • 1/2 cup ice
  • lemon or lime wedge to garnish
  • sea salt for the rim

Instructions:

  1. Wet the rim of a rocks glass and dip into the sea salt
  2. Add ice to cocktail shaker
  3. Place the lime and lemon juice in the cocktail shaker with bitter orange syrup
  4. Shake vigorously for 10 seconds
  5. Strain into the rocks glass
  6. Top with soda water
  7. Garnish with lemon lime wedge
