Mojito

Cubans created the mojito to flavour their rum. This exotic drink became a classic cocktail thanks to Ernest Hemmingway, Nat King Cole and visiting Americans during Prohibition. This version is made with lime mint and sugar syrup rather than a teaspoon of sugar.

Ingredients:

  • 60 ml White Rum (we use Bacardi)
  • 1 tbs (20ml) Lime simple syrup
  • juice 1/2 lime (10ml)
  • 1 cup of crushed ice
  • 10 mint leaves
  • club soda
  • 3-6 mint leaves
  • 2-3 lime wheels

Instructions:

  1. Mix the lime syrup fresh lime juice in a Collins glass
  2. Add 1/4 of the crushed ice
  3. Take 10 mint leaves and rub them over rim of the glass then tear up and throw into the glass
  4. Add the rum and stir
  5. Add the rest of the ice and top with club soda
  6. Stick some lime wheels into the glass for visual appeal
  7. Garnish the top of the glass with a sprig of mint
