Sweet dreams are made of cheese and toasted bread in this household. This is the ultimate crunchy toastie oozing with cheddar gruyere, mozzarella and parmesan. A winner in my house because its quick easy and very tasty.
Ingredients:
- 2 crusty slices of thick sliced sourdough bread
- 1 Tbs butter
- 25 g grated cheddar
- 25 g sliced gruyere
- 25 g sliced mozzarella
- 1 Tbs mayonnaise
- 1 Tbs grated parmesan cheese
Instructions:
- preheat grill pan or toastie maker
- Spread butter on the inside and mayonnaise on the outside of the bread slices
- Add handful of grated cheddar and mozzarella cheese to the inside of one slice of bread
- Place gruyere on other slice bread then close your sandwich.
- Check that butter is on inside and mayonnaise is on outside before cooking because mayonnaise has a higher heat tolerance which adds crunch to make the perfect toastie
- Place toastie mayonnaise side down on grill pan and cook on medium heat
- Flip after a few minutes or when it turns a golden brown and crunchy
- Cook for another 2 minutes on the flip side until the cheese has melted and oozing out
- Sprinkle the top which is the hottest with parmesan cheese and its ready to enjoy
- Alternatively use tortilla instead of bread and replace mayonnaise for sliced jalapeno peppers or chili jam
- Don’t forget to serve up this cheesy meal with its perfect companion- an old fashioned lemonade
